MS, OTR/L

I have been working as a pediatric Occupational Therapist for almost a decade. I received my undergraduate degree in Health Science and a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Florida. I have been married to my husband, Kris for 5 years and we have two wonderful children with one pesky puppy.

Previously, I worked at UCP of Central Florida which is a charter school and outpatient rehab facility. I have also been an Early Steps Provider and worked at the following establishments: Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital outpatient clinic, Florida Pediatric Therapy for Home Health, The Children’s Rehab Center in Fort Myers, and have owned my own company. I have also provided services at an Autism clinic for newly diagnosed children and gained experience through a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC).

I hold my Florida occupational therapy license, as well as being certified through the National Board of Occupational Therapy. I have also been a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association since 2007. I have completed advanced education courses in oral-motor techniques to foster improved feeding and nutrition in young children along with courses to facilitate sensory processing techniques, implement handwriting, SPIO-compression bracing training techniques, handling techniques of the baby and young child, linking NDT and sensory integration strategies, vision disorders, and Microcurrent Point Stimulation Therapy (MPS). Additional information on any of the above mentioned trainings and techniques is available upon request.

Throughout my career I have learned an array of skills to work with various diagnoses. I recognize that each child and their families are their own unique selves with their own unique needs; I truly have a passion to understand each family in their own way. I strive to provide strategies to assist them in fulfilling their functional potential within their everyday environment. Whether it is a child diagnosed with Autism, Down Syndrome, prematurity, Cerebral Palsy, a genetic disorder, sensory processing concerns, low tone, or developmental delay, I love helping them strive to meet their therapeutic potential. . It is truly rewarding to witness a child overcome their sensory aversions, a picky eater consume new foods into their daily diet, a child learn to use bilateral sides of their body to independently complete an activity of daily living (ADL) after having a traumatic brain injury (TBI), a child being able to produce legible handwriting, or seeing the look on a loved one’s face when their child can now tolerate hugging and kissing them!

One thing I have learned from all of my kids over the past 10 years is that they can amount to the unthinkable! They truly have a wonderful energy to life. Many of our kids have been born with their diagnoses and have learned how to function with their special needs since birth. I’m truly grateful to be a part of this learning process and helping them achieve new goals through every developmental stage.

I look forward to helping you and your child, as every child deserves a chance to succeed in their everyday environment!
